WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University women's soccer team was dealt a 1-0 loss Wednesday in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), losing a hard fought, 1-0, battle with visiting Ohio Northern University.

The Cardinals drop to 7-5-1 on the season and 2-2 in OAC play with the result, watching the Polar Bear improve to 6-6-1 (2-1 OAC) in the process.

Otterbein controlled most of the first half, out-shooting Ohio Northern 6-2 but unable to cash in.

Sandra Thorarensen tallied the eventual game-winner shortly into the second half, out-running the Cardinal defense on a skidding ball and shooting over the head of Otterbein goalkeeper Dana Strimbu.

Otterbein senior Morgan Hendrickson led an offensive charge down the stretch as the Cards saw a handful of opportunities on corner kicks and scrums in the box. ONU would ultimately prevail, however, in leaving with the tight victory.

Otterbein held a slim 13-12 edge in shots despite the loss, taking eight corner kicks compared to just five for the Polar Bears. Strimbu had six stops in goal while counterpart Emily Brodict finished with five in the ONU goal.

The Cards will finish out the week on the road, traveling to Heidelberg University Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. start time.
