Women's Soccer Continues Late Heroics with 1-0 Win at Marietta

Box Score
MARIETTA, Ohio – The Cardinal women's soccer team continued its flare for the dramatic Tuesday evening, scoring late to earn a 1-0 road win at Marietta College in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play.

Otterbein University improves to 11-5-1 overall and 6-2 in the OAC with the win, putting the team a half-game ahead atop the OAC standings at the moment. Ohio Northern, Capital, and John Carroll will all play tomorrow in attempt to keep pace.

The Cards held a 10-3 shot advantage throughout the first half, but came up empty en route to the scoreless tie at intermission.

Otterbein leading-scorer Jillian Strimbu would ultimately strike again, scoring her second goal in as many matches after freshman Erica Meier sent in a cross from the end line to set up the score at the top of the six-yard box.

The Otterbein possessed the ball on Marietta's side of the field nearly 75 percent of the match, limiting the Marietta attack to attempting just three shots all match. The Cards finished with a 15-3 edge in the shot category.

Kaitlyn Pearse posted with eight saves in the Pioneer net while Dana Strimbu needed to make only one on the Otterbein back end.

The Cardinals will finish out their regular-season schedule Saturday afternoon, traveling across town to battle rival Capital University at 4 p.m.
