Men's Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision to John Carroll

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University was dealt a 3-0 loss Wednesday afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) men's soccer action, falling to John Carroll University at Clements Field.

The Cardinals, dropping to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in the OAC, will finish out the week at home with a 3:30 p.m. match against Muskingum University Saturdya afternoon. The Blue Streaks move to 9-2 (2-0 OAC) with the victory.

JCU took an early lead by scoring just 6:29 into the contest. Otterbein keeper Kyle Ripma came off his line to challenge a shot, and the ball eventually ricocheted back into the middle of the box where Thor Erikson was there to finish on the empty net.

The Streaks doubled the margin to 2-0 in the 19th minute when Nathan Sharbaugh corralled a rebounded shot in traffic and finished lower left.

Erikson tallied his second goal of the bout just minutes after halftime, collecting possession and beating a Cardinal defender before finishing.

John Carroll finished with a 23-15 edge in shots and took five of the game's seven corner kicks. The match was a physical one, seeing a combined 31 fouls throughout.

Ripma made six stops in the Otterbein goal while Chris Garbinsky and Zach Fehrenbach combined to make eight for John Carroll.
