GAMBIER, Ohio – Otterbein University women's soccer scored first, but ultimately walked away with a 1-1 draw Wednesday at Kenyon College in non-conference action.
The Cardinals, moving to 3-3-1 on the season with the result, conclude the week with a 2 p.m. match at Hiram College Sunday afternoon. Kenyon, meanwhile, goes to 2-5-1 overall with the double-overtime tie.
Otterbein took control just over midway through the first half, as reigning OAC Player of the Week Jillian Strimbu tallied her third goal of the season at the 31:22 mark.
The Cards took the 1-0 lead into the half, but the Ladies drew even in the 67th minute on a goal from Maggie Smith.
A shot by Otterbein freshman Polly Sellers was saved with just five seconds left in regulation, and neither team was able to score throughout each of the two overtime periods.
Both sides attempted 14 shots during the affair, with Otterbein holding a 7-4 edge in the corner kick department.
Dana Strimbu made six saves in goal for the Cards while Alissa Poolpol and Lauren Wolfe combined for five on the hosts side.
