Cards Prevail in High-Scoring Affair at Hiram

Box Score
HIRAM, Ohio – Otterbein University women's soccer team improved to 4-3-1 on the season Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 victory at Hiram College in non-conference action.

The Cardinals will host Denison University Wednesday afternoon, 4 p.m., in their final non-conference outing of the season. The match is a rescheduled date from the initial Sept. 11 matchup that was postponed due to weather.

Otterbein struck first against the Terriers when freshman Polly Sellers found sophomore Megan McCabe for a goal at the 24:16 mark.

Hiram was the benefactor of a Cardinal miscue on an own goal in the 35th minute, but Otterbein's Amanda Case put her team back on top with a score five minutes later.

The Cards took the 2-1 lead into the half, but Hiram drew even yet again just five minutes into the second half on a goal from Michaela Edmond.

McCabe broke the tie less than four minutes later, scoring her second goal of the match that would prove to be the game-winner. Freshman Alexa Cheripko later scored her first-career goal down the stretch to provide a little insurance.

Otterbein dominated with a 20-5 shot advantage, and also doubled up the Terriers in corner kicks at 8-4. Dana Strimbu had two saves in goal for the Cards while Hiram's Kailie Reed had seven.
