Women's Soccer Suffers Pair of Road Losses

HANOVER, Ind. – Otterbein University women's soccer suffered a pair of tough road losses over the weekend, falling 2-0 at Thomas More College and 2-1 at Hanover College.

The Cardinals, now 1-3 on the season, return home to host Denison University in its home opener Wednesday at Clements Field. Starting time is schedule for 5 p.m.

Thomas More got on the board early during Saturday's match with a goal from Abby Osborne in the seventh minute. The Saints doubled their lead to 2-0 shortly before the half behind a goal from Olivia Huber at the 38:45 mark.

Otterbein was unable to chip into the lead throughout the second half en route to the loss. The Saints held a slim 9-8 shot advantage while both teams attempted eight corner kicks.

Sophomore Dana Strimbu tallied four saves in the net for Otterbein and counterpart Megan Barton was forced to make just two for TMC.

Otterbein regrouped and grabbed an early lead on Sunday at Hanover, seeing Morgan Hendrickson record a header goal off a corner kick in the ninth minute.

The Panthers (4-0) evened the match a few minutes before halftime as Sirena Isadore found the back of the net in the 41st minute.

The game remained tied through intermission and well into the second half until Hanover's Chandler Turner broke the tie with a score at 73:59. Turner had a shot from the top of the box hit the cross bar and fall down into the goal. Otterbein was unable to answer back in the final 16 minutes.

The Cardinals outshot the Panthers, 11-6, in addition to holding a 14-6 edge on corner kicks.
