Box Score WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University volleyball team tallied another Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) win Friday evening, taking down Muskingum University in four sets inside the Rike Center.
The Cardinals, winning 25-18, 25-22, 19-25, 25-20, improve themselves to 13-11 on the season and 4-1 within league play as a result of the win.
Otterbein ran away with the first set before falling behind, 22-18, heading down the stretch of the second frame. The Cards regrouped out of a timeout, winning the next seven points to steal the game and take a 2-0 lead.
Muskingum kept itself alive with a 25-19 win in the third, but Otterbein seized the last laugh by overcoming an 11-6 deficit early in the fourth to go on and win.
Senior Kim Barker led all players with 13 kills, committing just two errors on 26 attempts for a .423 hitting mark. Freshman Morgan Lowenkamp, seeing her first action since suffering an injury on Sept. 27, entered midway through the second set and ultimately hit .478 by finishing with 12 kills, and just one error, on 23 attempts.
Megan Volosin added 11 kills, libero Evelyn Carus had 29 digs and setter Lauren Blumberg handed out a career-best 38 assists. Blumberg assumed the primary setting duties midway through the second set after senior Kayla Radekin went down with an injury.
Freshman Taylour Fatheree led the Muskie offense with 11 kills, and just one error, on 28 total attacks.
Barker, Carus, Radekin and fellow senior Kendel Kellogg were recognized prior to the match as part of Senior Night. The group has helped lead the program to a 92-33 record since their arrival, including a 24-5 mark in conference play.
Otterbein will be back in action Tuesday evening, heading to Wilmington College for a 7 p.m. start.
