Men's Soccer Suffers 3-0 Loss at Wilmington

Box Score

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Otterbein University men's soccer team swallowed a tough road loss Wednesday evening, falling 3-0 at Wilmington College in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action.

The Quakers struck early and often to take control for good, starting by drawing a foul in the box less than five minutes in and converting a penalty kick.

A goal from Evan Schlagetter at the 9:25 mark doubled the Wilmington lead, and a score from Martin Holmquist less than five minutes after that extended the host advantage to 3-0.

The Cardinals, having been known to strike late rallies this season, did all they could to get on the scoreboard the remainder of the way but ultimately came up empty.

Otterbein (9-7, 2-4 OAC) finished with a 15-13 shot margin and held a 6-2 edge on corner kicks. Mack Stamper made seven saves in goal for the Cards while counterpart R.J. Mancini had four for the Quakers.

The match was chippy throughout, with 29 total fouls and a combined four yellow cards issued.

Otterbein finishes out the week with its final home match of the regular season on Saturday afternoon, hosting Baldwin Wallace University at 2 p.m. in Memorial Stadium.
