Box Score Photo GalleryWESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinal men's soccer team picked up a timely Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory Saturday afternoon, getting a late goal to defeat Baldwin Wallace University, 1-0, at Memorial Stadium.
Otterbein, improves itself to 10-7 on the season and 3-4 in league play with the win, now sits in a tie with Marietta for sixth place in the conference standings. The Pioneers will host Otterbein Tuesday afternoon in a pivotal OAC matchup, as only the top-six schools will qualify for the upcoming postseason tournament.
The Cardinals played to a scoreless first half with Baldwin Wallace, and the match looked as it if could very well head for overtime as the second-half clock continued to run. Otterbein senior Jared Pulliam helped provide the difference late in the contest, drawing a foul in the box at the 77:00 mark and then burying the ensuing penalty kick for the eventual game-winner. He and classmates Conor Holland and Nick Vitullo were recognized prior to start time as part of Senior Day.
Otterbein finished with a 12-11 shot advantage while both teams committed 11 fouls in a hard-fought and well-played battle. Mack Stamper had seven saves in goal for the Cardinals.
Otterbein will stay on the road to finish out the regular season, traveling to Mount Union next Saturday after the Tuesday affair at Marietta, which is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
