Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – Otterbein University men's soccer finished off its season with a victory Saturday afternoon, scoring a first-half goal and hanging on to defeat the University of Mount Union, 1-0, on the road.
The Cardinals conclude their season at 10-9 overall, and 3-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), after learning earlier in the day that they must forfeit a recent 1-0 win over Baldwin Wallace University due to an inadvertent misunderstanding of penalty-card rules and ultimately using an ineligible player.
Nevertheless, Otterbein refocused to end its season on a strong note, getting a goal in the 22nd minute from junior forward Reid Wolfe to grab an early advantage over the Purple Raiders, who finish their season at 7-11 overall, 1-8 in the OAC. It was Wolfe's fifth goal of the season.
Otterbein controlled the majority of possession through and continued applying pressure to Mount, eventually finishing with a 20-7 shot advantage in the match and forcing Raider goalkeeper Dylan Lias into making 12 saves.
Otterbein took all nine of the corner kicks awarded in the contest.
