WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University women's lacrosse got back into the win column Thursday afternoon, snapping a short two-game skid with a dominant 20-2 victory over visiting Franciscan University.
The Cardinals (2-2) will return to action Sunday afternoon with another outing at Clements Field, hosting Alma College (Mich.) at noon.
Otterbein took control right from the get-go, netting five goals in the first eight minutes of action to jump on top. The Cardinals eventually grabbed an 11-0 lead by the end of the first half, which included three scores from sophomore Morgan Hunsaker.
The Cards rattled off five more goals to put the contest out of reach early in the second half before Franciscan (0-1) ultimately got on the board at the 19:55 mark. Otterbein tallied five of the remaining six goals to complete the scoring.
Rebecca Carter finished with a game-high four goals on the Otterbein side, while Hunsaker, Tory Blatt, Courtney Hilfinger Shannon Back all had three of their own.
Otterbein finished with a 35-7 shot advantage and won 18 of the 24 draw controls.
The Tan and Cardinal will hit the road following the Sunday matchup with Alma, traveling to play five-straight outings away from home before an April 3 matchup with Defiance College.
