WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinal women's lacrosse team notched its second-straight win Sunday afternoon with an impressive 14-2 victory over visiting Alma College (Mich.) at Clements Field.
Otterbein University controlled nearly the entire match, scoring early and often to improve to 3-2 on the season. Alma falls to 4-3 overall with the loss.
The Cardinals jumped ahead from the get-go, scoring four times in the first seven minutes before ultimately assuming an 8-0 lead by the 4:10 mark of the first half.
Otterbein took an 8-1 advantage into halftime and put the game away for good in the second half.
Tory Blatt netted a game-high four goals for Otterbein while four other players had two each. Sophomore Annie Kelly was seemingly everywhere on the field with an all-around line of two goals, two assists, 10 ground balls, five caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Senior Kayle Quinter also contributed nicely on the defensive side for Otterbein, winning eight ground balls, causing three turnovers and securing three draw controls.
Goalie Karen Brady came up with eight saves in the Cardinal cage while counterpart Stephanie Herman had seven of her own on the opposite end for the Scots.
Otterbein finished with a 27-13 shot advantage and won 13 of 18 draw controls as a team.
The Cards will now hit the road for five-straight games, beginning with a 5 p.m. (CST) contest at Beloit College (Wisc.) on Tuesday.
