Box Score GAMBIER, Ohio – The Otterbein University women's lacrosse team saw its six-game winning strea snapped Thursday afternoon, coming up short in a 10-7 road loss at Kenyon College.
The Lords jumped out in front early, out-scoring the Cardinals 7-2 over the course of the first half to seize a five-goal halftime advantage.
Otterbein (7-3) battled back in the second half, going on a 4-1 scoring spurt over the initial 18-plus minutes to get back within two, at 8-6. Kenyon eventually regained the edge, scoring at the 8:52 mark before holding on down the stretch in improving to 6-1 this season.
Otterbein was led by juniors Courtney Hilfinger and Tory Blatt, who each scored three times to lead the Cardinal attack. Sophomore Morgan Hunsaker found the back of the net.
Goalie Karen Brady made nine saves for the Cardinals, who were out-shot 25-14 but limited Kenyon to just a 2-of-9 success rate on free-position attempts.
Alex Bair finished with a game-high four goals on the Kenyon side.
The Cardinals will have a full week off before returning to action next Thursday, hosting Defiance College for a 5 p.m. start time at Clements Field.
