Box Score 2 GAMBIER, Ohio – Otterbein University women's volleyball split a pair of matches at the Kenyon Tri-Match Saturday afternoon, falling to Hiram College in the opening contest before pulling out a five-set win over the host Ladies.
The Cardinals, now 7-8 on the season, will have the middle of the week off before heading to the Marietta College Tri-Match next weekend.
Hiram (12-1) proved to be too strong for the Cardinals in the opener, prevailing by scores of 25-21, 25-19, 15-25, 25-18. Senior Kim Barker had a career-match offensively despite it coming in a loss, blasting a career-best 21 kills and hitting .606 over the four sets. She committed just on error on 31 total attempts.
Otterbein bounced back with a tough five-set win over Kenyon in the second outing, coming from behind to win 19-25, 25-13, 19-25, 25-26, 16-14. It was the second win for the Cardinals over Kenyon this season.
Freshman middle Morgan Lowenkamp had the best outing of her season, hitting .500 after blasting 17 kills, and committing just three errors, on 28 attempts. Redshirt sophomore Maddy Shelley also had a career-high wtih 13 kills while Barker hit .375 with a line of 11 kills, two errors and 24 attacks.
Otterbein hit .329 as a team in the match and held the Ladies to just a .112 percentage. Both sides combined to make 49 service errors.
