PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Cardinal women's soccer team battled its way to a pair of double overtime draws during the weekend, going the full 110 minutes against both Rochester Institute of Technology and Salisbury University (Md.).

Otterbein fought 16th-ranked RIT to the limit on Saturday afternoon, playing to a scoreless draw over regulation and both overtime sessions.

The Cardinals saw a few chances throughout, including back-to-back shots from Alvi Shivley and Abbey Miltko in the 64th minute that were saved by RIT keeper Amanda Murray. RIT managed to attempt the only shot of either overtime period as the match ended in a stalemate.

The Tigers finished with a slim 7-6 shot advantage while both teams attempted five corner kicks.

The Cardinals seized an early lead on day two against Salisbury, getting a goal at the 15:15 mark when junior Jillian Strimbu buried a one-timer off a direct assist from senior Alex Ancona. Melinda Stemen was also credited with a helper on the scoring sequence.

The Seagulls answered just before halftime, taking a throw-in before watching Samantha Beck nail a shot from 25 yards out to even the match. Neither team would be able to find the back of the net during the second half as the match headed for overtime.

Salisbury out-shot the Cards 3-1 in the two extra frames and nearly scored midway through the second overtime, but Ancona was there to clear a ball off the line and keep the match going.

Salisbury posted a 12-4 edge on total shots as Otterbein goalkeeper Dana Strimbu came up with five saves between the posts. Otterbein had a 4-2 margin on corner kicks.

The Cardinals will return to action Wednesday evening, traveling to take on Denison University for a 7 p.m. start time.
