Box Score

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University men's basketball squad dropped its sixth-straight game Wednesday evening in the Rike Center, falling by a score of 72-56 to visiting Ohio Northern University.

Both sides played through a sluggish first half offensively, combining to shoot just 14 of 55 from the field and 25 percent each. ONU strung together a few possessions late in the period, breaking open a 17-17 tie to enter halftime with a 23-18 advantage.

The Polar Bears (9-9, 4-7 OAC) took control to begin the second half, opening the frame on a 15-3 run to seize a 17-point cushion just five minutes in. Otterbein's second unit provided a few quick buckets, but ONU caught fire from behind the arc and stretched the lead to as many as 24 with 8:22 remaining.

Otterbein did not go quietly, rallying with a 16-1 run out of a timeout to claw back within single digits. Northern would ultimately hold off the surge and leave with the win.

Darrell Miller III finished with a team-high 13 points on the Otterbein side, marking the only Cardinal in double figures. Devon Allen paced the Polar Bears with a game-high 14.

Otterbein (3-15, 2-10 OAC) finishes out the week on the road, traveling to play a 3 p.m. contest at Muskingum University. The Cards took the first matchup earlier this season in Westerville, winning 84-77 as four players scored in double figures.
