ADA, Ohio – The Cardinal volleyball team came up short in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) road match Tuesday evening, falling by scores of 15-25, 22-25, 14-25 to No. 22-ranked Ohio Northern University.

Otterbein, dropping to 10-12 overall and 1-3 in league play, will be back in action Saturday with a full day of action by traveling to Muskingum University, for an early 11:30 a.m. start, before finishing the day with a 7 p.m. evening contest at nearby Ohio Wesleyan University.

Ohio Northern, ranked 22nd in the latest AVCA national poll, moved itself to 18-4 on the year and a stayed perfect at 4-0 against OAC schools with its 11th-straight victory.

ONU took early control in the first, set, starting the night with a 9-4 run and easing to a 1-0 match lead.

The Cardinals put up their best fight in game two, erupting for a 12-1 run midway through to seize an 18-13 advantage. Northern wouldn't go anywhere, winning five of the next six points and ultimately finishing the frame on a 7-1 run.

The hosts finished the job in the third game, taking advantage of five Otterbein attacking errors, and another two ball-handling errors, en route to a 9-0 lead. The Cards could not recover from that point.

Senior Kasey White led Otterbein with a game-high 10 kills from the outside, committing just three errors on 22 attempts for a nice .322 hitting mark. Morgan Lowenkamp added seven kills, Andrea Miller and Lauren Blumber combined for 30 assists up front, and libero Gracie Staten had 21 digs on the back line.

Kaitlann Hogrefe turned in seven kills to lead a balanced Polar Bear offense, which was benefited by 22 assists from Ashley Borchers. Megan Nieszla had a match-best 24 digs for ONU, which hit .168 compared to Otterbein's .024 performance.
