Box Score WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University volleyball team got itself back into the win column Tuesday evening, snapping an uncharacteristic six-game losing skid with a three-set win over Wilmington College.
The Cardinals, winning by one-sided scores of 25-9, 25-4, 25-12, improves to 11-14 on the year and 2-4 within the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). The group will stay at home to host Mount Vernon Nazarene on Thursday evening, 7 p.m.
Otterbein took a 12-4 lead in the first set and never looked back to give itself the early advantage. Wilmington trailed 8-4 during set two before the Cardinals flew away to win the final 17 points in a row.
Otterbein finished the job in the third, hopping out to a 9-2 cushion and coasting to victory.
Sophomore middle
Morgan Lowenkamp tallied six kills, and no errors, on nine attempts to lead a balanced Otterbein attack, which also got five kills from
Ashton Riffle and four from
Kasey White. Seventeen different Cardinals saw time in the match.
Kaylyn Schroer had a season-high 15 digs as the starting libero, her second-straight outing in double figures for digs. Otterbein hit .312 as a team and forced the Quakers (0-21, 0-6 OAC) to go -.211 for the night. The Cards also recorded 10 service aces.
Otterbein will pick back up with conference play Saturday afternoon Baldwin Wallace University for a 1 p.m. start time. The Yellow Jackets are enjoying their best season in recent memory, currently standing at 21-5 on the year.
