Box Score BEREA, Ohio – The Otterbein volleyball team dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) road match Saturday afternoon, dropping a four-set contest at Baldwin Wallace University.
The Cardinals, who won the opening set before fading, fall to 11-16 on the season and 2-5 against the OAC. Baldwin Wallace, winning by final scores of 24-26, 25-17, 25-17, 25-15, keep their impressive season going by improving to 22-5 overall and 5-2 within the league.
Otterbein trailed throughout almost the entire first set, eventually overcoming a 17-13 deficit to tie the frame at 19-19. BW went ahead again as the Cards faced match points, down 24-22, but rallied to win four-straight and steal the game.
The second set saw an early tie at 9-9 before BW sprinted out on a quick 9-2 run, going ahead 17-11 and not looking back. The hosts would win the middle-two sets, 25-17, and ultimately pull away from Otterbein in the fourth to finish the day.
Senior
Maddy Shelley tallied 11 kills to lead the Otterbein offense while
Kasey White and
Morgan Lowenkamp each had nine. Setter
Andrea Miller had 29 assists.
Alicia Lortcher went for a staggering 26 kills on the BW side, committing just four errors on 49 attempts for a .449 hitting percentage. Setter Ashley Nuding had an eye-popping 60 assists.
The Yellow Jackets hit .310 as a team compared to Otterbein's .148 mark.
Otterbein will finish the regular-season with three-straight home matches, beginning on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. contest against Marietta College.
