The Cardinals, who improve to 10-6-1 overall and 6-2-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play, earn the No. 3-seed in the OAC Tournament and will have a quick turnaround before hosting No. 6-seeded John Carroll Monday evening, 7 p.m., at Memorial Stadium. The winner will advance to play i
n a semifinal match at No. 2-seed Ohio Northern on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Otterbein defended well throughout the entire match while netting a score on Mount Union in each half.
Jillian Strimbu ignited the Cardinal scoring effort in the 25th minute with her fifth goal of the season off
Alex Ancona's sixth assist in the last six games. The Cardinals controlled the shot margin throughout the entire first period, outshooting the Purple Raiders 11-3, while also earning a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Mount Union managed to pick-up the tempo on offense in the second period, unloading six shots to Otterbein's five, but the Cardinal defense kept its opposition at-bay.
Erica Meier added an insurance goal for the Cardinals in the 75th minute, scoring her fourth goal of the season on an unassisted effort past Purple Raider goalkeeper Claudia Boryka.
Otterbein ended the game with a 16-9 shot advantage, including an 11-4 lead in shots on goal. The Cards also earned a 7-1 margin in corner kicks on the night. Strimbu paced the team in shots with four, all of which came on goal.

Dana Strimbu saved four shots on the night in 90 minutes of action to pick up her seventh shutout of the season. Boryka was kept busy in the Purple Raider goal, stopping nine shots in the loss.
