Box Score UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Otterbein men's soccer team saw its six-game win streak come to an end on Tuesday night with a 5-1 loss to John Carroll.
The Cardinals, who recorded just their second losing decision in the last eight games, came into the game having matched the program's second-longest winning streak in the last 12 seasons. The longest stretch of wins in that span is seven logged back in 2003.
Nate Norris came out firing in the early going for Otterbein, scoring the initial goal of the game in the 14th minute off an assist by
Francisco Marty. Norris has now scored a goal in five-straight games for the Cards.
The Blue Streaks responded in the 31st minute with a pair of goals in a two minute span. The first came off the foot of Jesse Marinaro from Tristan Lyles, before Justin Miller gave John Carroll its first lead of the game on an assist by Jacob Lombardo.
John Carroll maintained its one goal advantage into the halftime break, compiling a 13-2 lead in shots and a 4-1 margin in corner kicks.
The Blue Streaks continued their offensive attack in the second half, scoring a trio of goals in a span of 15 minutes.
A foul on the Cards in the 56th minute led to a penalty kick struck in by Jacob Lumbardo, giving John Carroll a 3-1 lead.
Michael Melfi then found Jimmy Mattina 11 minutes later, before Marinaro assisted Miller on the final Blue Streak goal in the 71st minute.
The Cardinals ended the game with five shots, two of which came on goal. John Carroll tallied 19 shots on the night and totaled a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Mack Stamper allowed more than two goals for the first time in nine games, dropping just his second decision in goal in the last eight contests.
Otterbein takes its 6-4-1 overall record and 1-1 mark in OAC play into its next match this Saturday against cross-town rival Capital. First kick is set for 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
