High-Scoring Blue Streaks Power Past Cardinals

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein men's basketball team dropped a home contest in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play Wednesday evening, falling xx-xx to visiting John Carroll University.

The Cardinals (3-17, 2-11 OAC) will stay at home to finish out the week, hosting Baldwin Wallace University, 7:30 p.m., come Saturday in the Rike Center.

Both sides pushed the tempo in a fast-paced first half, with Otterbein trailing just 23-19 at the 11:58 mark after a layup from Bryan Mackenzie. JCU got it going with a quick 10-0 run before closing the half strong and taking a 60-34 halftime lead.

The Cardinals made just 2 of 13 three-pointers in the first half and turned the ball over 12 times, compared to just two giveaways for the Blue Streaks.

John Carroll extended the lead throughout the second half, reaching the 100-point mark with 5:31 remaining in coasting to victory.

Christian Meister scored a career-high 15 points for the Cardinals while Jake Phillis chipped in 12. Six players reached double figures for the Blue Streaks, led by 20 from both David Hendrickson and Will Starks.
