Box Score

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Otterbein University women's lacrosse team returned from a two-week hiatus in nice form Wednesday evening, earning a lopsided 16-3 road win at Transylvania University.

The Cardinals, advancing to 5-3 on the season with the win, conclude their non-conference slate and will begin league play Saturday afternoon at John Carroll. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Otterbein jumped on the Pioneers from the start, getting a goal from senior Courtney Hilfinger less than a minute in and eventually taking a 7-1 lead into halftime.

The Cards put the game away early in the second, using two goals in the opening five minutes to extend the lead and never look back.

Hilfinger, Tory Blatt, Annie Kelly and Nicole Coccagno all scored three times for the Cardinals, with Kelly also chipping in three assists to lead all scorers. Senior Rebecca Carter set up three goals while freshman Ali Kula found the back of the net twice.

Ariel Petroval made four saves in goal before giving way to Kathleen Flavin for the final 10 minutes. Otterbein out-shot Transylvania 33-10, won 13 of the 20 draw controls and forced the Pioneers into committing 29 turnovers.
