Box Score WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein men's basketball team dropped a home game within Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play Saturday afternoon, falling 94-61 to 18th-ranked University of Mount Union inside the Rike Center.
The Cardinals, 3-14 on the season and 1-9 against the OAC, will be back in action this coming Wednesday with a road matchup at Ohio Northern University. Otterbein lost a hard-fought 87-84 battle with the Polar Bears earlier this season.
Mount Union (12-5, 8-2 OAC) led from start to finish, opening the game on a 17-5 run en route to building a 49-21 halftime lead. The Raiders shot 53 percent in the opening half compared to just 21 percent for the Cards.
Otterbein continued to battle throughout the second half, but the damage had been done as Mount Union left with the lopsided win.
Senior
Marc McCuen led the Cardinals with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting while
Matt Hughes and
Connor Clark each chipped in nine off the bench. Corey Becket had eight points late in the game while
Bryan Mackenzie added seven points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
JJ Kukura led all scorers with 16 off the Purple Raider bench, going 6 of 9 from the field in 15 minutes of action. He came in averaging 18.6 ppg., fourth-best in the conference, over just 23 minutes per outing.
Mount Union finished with a staggering 60 bench points and a 17-4 advantage in points off turnovers.
