WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Cardinal volleyball team advanced its record to 3-2 within Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play Tuesday evening on the road, winning a four-set matchup at Wilmington College.
Otterbein, now 14-8 overall on the season, took down the Quakers by scores of 25-12, 25-26, 19-25, 25-14 behind a .363 hitting percentage as a team.
Sophomore
Alana King-Mendenhall led the way offensively with a standout performance, blasting 14 kills, and no errors, on 21 total attempts for a .667 percentage, which ranks top-10 in program history for a single match.
Junior
Emily Quill notched a career-best eight kills as she and classmates
Brett Bey and
Marie Thornton all hit .500 even. Setter
Andrea Miller posted her fourth-straight match reaching 30 assists.
The Cardinals took the first-two sets with relative ease before giving one back in the third, letting Wilmington (1-18, 0-4 OAC) break open an 8-8 tie with a 9-1 run and ultimately win the frame.
Otterbein finished the job in the next frame, wasting no time in jumping out to an 11-2 cushion and not looking back. The Cardinals finished with 12 service aces and another 12 service errors in the contest.
Otterbein will finish out the week with a pair of non-conference matches Saturday at Wittenberg, playing Maryville (Tenn.) at 1 p.m. and then the host Tigers at 3 p.m.
