TIFFIN, Ohio – The Otterbein University women's soccer team saw its three-game win streak snapped in a 1-0 loss at Heidelberg on Saturday afternoon at Hidden Valley Stadium.
Otterbein (8-4-1 overall) moves to 3-2 in OAC play with its first loss in two weeks. The Cardinals return home on Wednesday night to begin their final regular-season homestand against John Carroll at 7 p.m.
The Cardinals got off to a slow start in the opening half despite outshooting the Berg, 6-3, with half of its shots on goal. Heidelberg's Abigail Callahan scored the lone goal of the frame in the 16th minute, firing the ball into the back of the net following a rebound off her own shot.
Otterbein continued to unload multiple shots in the second half of action, totaling 18 to the Berg's mark of five with 10 of its shots coming on goal. The Cards pressed the Student Princes' defense over the final 20 minutes by firing five shots, two of which were saved after consecutive shots by
Megan Losey and
Madison Burchfield.
Cardinal goalkeeper
Andrea Pohlman suffered just her fourth loss in goal this season, saving a pair of shots in 90 minutes. Heidelberg goalkeeper Alexandra Farmer was a force between the posts with 10 saves on the day.
