ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Otterbein University volleyball team finished out its regular season with a pair of losses Saturday afternoon, dropping an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) match at Mount Union and then also suffering a non-league defeat at the hands of No. 9-ranked Juniata.
The Cardinals (16-13, 4-5 OAC) will be the sixth seed in next week's OAC Tournament and will ironically head right back to play third-seeded Mount Union on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
Otterbein fell to the Purple Raiders by scores of 18-25, 15-25, 25-17, 20-25 to open Saturday's action, trailing just 17-14 in the first set before Mount pulled away.
The Cards bell behind early in the second set and trailed the entire way, but bounced back with a third-set triumph after using a 7-0 scoring run to break open a 13-13 tie. The Purple Raiders (18-8, 7-2 OAC) finished the job in the fourth set, holding off a Cardinal squad that trailed just 19-17 but couldn't get any closer down the stretch.

The Purple Raiders hit .221 as a group for the match and limited Otterbein to a .108 percentage.
Otterbein concluded the day with a four-set loss to top-10 opponent Juniata by scores of 12-25, 25-22, 15-25, 20-25. The Eagles breezed to that first-set win before the Cardinals countered back, emerging with a late run in the second after ties at 12, 14, 15 and 16.
Juniata prevailed with wins in the next-two frames, hitting .219 as a team compared to a .051 output for the Cardinals.

Marie Thornton led the way with nine kills and Lowenkamp added seven. Leon, sitting second in the OAC in total digs, added 21 more to her season total.
