NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Cardinal men's soccer team posted a 3-0 win over Muskingum on Saturday night for its first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory of the season.
Otterbein (6-4-2 overall) has now defeated Muskingum in each of the last four seasons, with Saturday's win being the largest margin of victory over that span.
The Cardinals manufactured a trio of first-half goals to take a commanding lead into halftime, tallying all three scores inside the first 33 minutes of action.
Junior
Gavin Koerner was first to ink the scoreboard with his second goal of the year in the eighth minute of play off an assist from fellow junior
Nate Norris.
Noah Coons and
Blake Steenrod joined their classmates with back-to-back scores less than eight minutes apart, boosting the Cardinal lead to 3-0 before the break.
Both goals came unassisted, with Coons netting his second of the year in the 25th minute and Steenrod posting his first in the 33rd minute. Otterbein held a 12-5 advantage in shots through one frame.
The score remained the same for the remainder of the contest, as the Cards ended the match with a dominant 18-9 margin in shots. Otterbein is now 1-2 in league play with six games remaining in the regular season.

Collin Hoffmann and
Mack Stamper were again stellar in a tandem effort in goal, with Hoffmann recording the lone save of the night in the Muskies' only shot on goal.
Otterbein begins a two-game homestand next Tuesday night as its hosts Wilmington at Memorial Stadium. First kick is set for 7 p.m.
