WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Otterbein University women's lacrosse team picked up its second victory of the season on Saturday, edging Calvin by a score of 9-6 at Memorial Stadium.

The Cardinals jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead over the Knights in the opening 18 minutes of action, as sophomore attack Nicole Coccagno netted two goals in a span of 10 minutes on assists from Alanna Schultz and Annie Kelly. Schultz tallied a goal of her own in between Coccagno's two scores to help increase the Cardinal lead.

Calvin battled back inside the 10-minute mark of the first half, scoring twice in a span of just over a minute to cut the Otterbein lead to 3-2 with 4:33 remaining. Junior midfielder Katy Williams responded for the Cards two minutes later as Kelly assisted on a laser shot past the Knights' goalkeeper, proving to be the first of Williams' three goals on the day.

Otterbein surrendered two goals to the Knights in the first eight minutes of the second half, as the score was knotted at four apiece with 22:38 on the clock. The Cards then scored back-to-back goals of their own coming off sophomore Veronica Wagner's second score of the season and Coccagno's second of the game.

The Knights managed to tally a man-down goal at the 14:29 mark to cut their deficit to 6-5, before the Cards manufactured three-straight goals, two of which came from Williams to help inflate the lead to 9-5 with under eight minutes left to play.

Calvin tacked on an additional score late in the final six minutes, but to no avail, as Otterbein closed out the game with a 30-12 advantage in shots. The Cards also owned a 23-9 margin in shots on goal.

Coccagno and Williams each scored three goals apiece, combining for 12 shots, while Williams boosted her team-lead in goals this season to 19. Kelly assisted on four of the Cards' nine goals, giving her a team-high 11 assists for the year. Schultz, Wagner and sophomore defender Ali Kula also tallied one goal apice.

Cardinal goalkeeper Karen Brady posted her second win in goal by stopping three shots in 60 minutes of play. Calvin goalkeeper Ellis Chalfant recorded an admirable day in the net with 14 saves in the loss.

Otterbein's next matchup is against Beloit (Wisc.) at home next Saturday at 1 p.m.
