Box Score

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Otterbein University women's lacrosse team moved its Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) record to 2-0 Wednesday evening, walking away from Wilmington College with a solid 12-1 win.

The Cardinals, sitting 4-6 overall on the season, will finish out the week with a 1 p.m. matchup at Baldwin Wallace University come Saturday afternoon.

Neither team was able to score for almost the first seven minutes before Otterbein junior Katy Williams found the back of the net at the 23:02 mark. The Cards settled into a nice groove from there, getting a score from Nicole Coccagno at 20:08 and then another tally from Williams less than a minute later.

Otterbein ran its lead to 7-0 entering the final minutes of the first half before the Quakers registered their lone goal of the night 2:22 before intermission. The Cards posted a 23-3 shot advantage in the opening 30 minutes and finished with a 44-6 margin in the category.

The second half did not feature any scoring for 20 minutes, but Otterbein eventually created more separation down the stretch with a goal from Veronica Wager, two from Williams and another two from freshman Abby Smoot.

Williams finished with four goals on the evening and also tied with Alanna Schultz for a team-high three draw controls. Sophomore Alie Kula left her mark across the field with one goal, four ground balls and a game-best five caused turnovers.

Sophomore Nicole Coccagno had her best offensive game of the season, scoring once and dishing out a career-high four assists. She led all players with five total points.

Senior Karen Brady picked up the win in goal, saving four shots while going the distance between the posts. Wilmington's Katie Bennett made a solid 17 saves on the opposite end.

Otterbein forced 35 Wilmington turnovers and went a perfect 9 for 9 on clear attempts.
