WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Otterbein University women's soccer team cruised past Ohio Wesleyan, 3-0,
on Wednesday in its home opener at Memorial Stadium.
The Cardinals (2-1-1 overall) collect their first win since the season-opener and boost their unbeaten streak against OWU to nine-straight.
Otterbein took an early 1-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game after senior
Erica Meier found the back of the net for her first score of the season off an assist into the box by classmate
Madison Burchfield, also her first of the season.
Fellow senior
Megan Gordon added a goal in the 43rd minute with a shot on the far side of the Battling Bishops' box, sneaking the ball off an OWU defender and past goalkeeper Mackenzie Brunke.
Meier added her second goal of the game less than three minutes into the second half on a lead pass by sophomore
Hayley Hotchkiss en route to a breakaway score. Otterbein ended the game owning a 16-5 margin in shots, 12 of which came on goal.
Senior goalkeeper
Andrea Pohlman tallied a pair of saves in 90 minutes for her second win in goal for the Cards. A total of 22 different players saw time on the field for the Cardinals, with 10 of them attempting at least one shot.
Otterbein is now set to travel to Manchester (Ind.) this Saturday for an afternoon matchup at the Spartan Soccer Complex. First kick is set for 2 p.m. in North Manchester, Ind.
