NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Cardinal women's soccer team made it two-straight wins with a 3-0 defeat of Manchester (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon at Good Field.
Otterbein (3-1-1 overall) has now won each of its three games this season in shutout fashion, having scored six goals in the last two games.
The Cardinals controlled the momentum from the opening kick, holding a 6-1 advantage in shots through the first 12 minutes of action.
Freshman
Katie Exline ignited the scoring run for Otterbein in the 33rd minute, netting her second goal of the season off an assist by senior
Alvi Shivley.
Seven minutes passed before Manchester committed a foul inside its box to give the Cards a penalty kick. Shivley took the kick and promptly delivered the ball into the back of the Spartans' goal to boost the lead to 2-0.
Otterbein entered halftime with a distinct 17-3 lead in shots, two of which were saved by Manchester goalkeeper Caroline Smith.
Senior
Madison Burchfield opened the second half by extending the Cardinal lead to 3-0 in the 51st minute after posting her second goal of the year.
The Cards maintained their lead for the remainder of the match, ending with a dominating 31-7 advantage in shots, nine of which came on goal. Otterbein also owned a 15-1 margin in corner kicks.

Andrea Pohlman tallied another efficient outing in goal for her third win, saving four shots in 90 minutes of play.
The Cardinals will host Bluffton next Wednesday in the team's first night game of the season at Memorial Stadium. First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m.
