Late Goal by Hiram Downs Otterbein, 1-0

Box Score

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinal women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to Hiram on Wednesday night at Memorial Stadium, snapping its four-game win streak.

Otterbein (5-2-1 overall) opens Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Saturday at cross-town rival Capital. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bernlohr Stadium.

Both teams limited one another's looks on goal in the opening half, combining for seven shots of which five were taken by Otterbein. The Cardinals did manage to field multiple corner kick opportunities with four to the Terriers' mark of zero.

The second half brought similar play outside of Otterbein recording eight shots to Hiram's four, but it was the Terriers who cashed in on the late-goal opportunity in the 88th minute.

Hiram's Abbey Rowe tapped in her second score of the year after a well-placed ball was served into the box, initially by Ashley Myer, followed by a touch pass from Emily Syrjala, to give the Terriers their first lead.

Otterbein earned one more corner kick with less than 10 seconds remaining, but to no avail, as the Cards suffered their first loss in four weeks. The Cardinals outshot the Terriers, 13-6, posting five of their six shots on goal.
