Men's Soccer Ties No. 25 Oberlin, 1-1

Box Score

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Cardinal men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six-straight games with a 1-1 draw at No.25-ranked Oberlin on Wednesday night at Fred Shults Field.

Otterbein (5-2-2 overall) is now set to host cross-town rival Capital on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. First kick is slated for 7 p.m.

The game was scoreless through the initial frame, as the Yeomen held a 14-8 advantage in shots including an 8-3 margin in shots on goal. Cardinal goalkeeper Collin Hoffmann was kept busy between the posts in the half, stopping five shots to keep the Oberlin offense at bay.

Junior Nate Norris broke the scoreless tie in the 57th minute, finding the back of the net for the second time this season to give the Cards a 1-0 lead. Otterbein managed to unload four more shots over the remaining 33 minutes of action.

Oberlin knotted the score at one goal apiece with less than three minutes left to play in regulation, as Jake Frankenfield deflected a header shot from teammate Jack McMillin into the back of the Cardinal goal to send the game into overtime.

Neither team pulled ahead through 20 extra minutes, as Hoffmann was inserted back into goal for the Cards in the initial overtime and saved three shots. The Yeomen ended the contest with a 31-18 lead in shots, while both teams saw plenty of opportunity to score with 20 shots on goal combined.
