Box Score

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's basketball team suffered a 66-45 loss to Baldwin Wallace in a rare Friday night matchup inside the Rike Center.

Otterbein (7-8 overall) drops to 3-5 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play and snaps its two-game winning streak. The Cardinals now turn their attention to next Wednesday's home game against Wilmington, with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.

Baldwin Wallace jumped out to an 8-2 lead and then extended it to an 11-4 advantage with just over three minutes remaining in the opening period. The Cardinals managed to score just three baskets through the frame, trailing by five points heading into the second quarter.

The Yellow Jackets quickly boosted their lead to 19-6 thanks to an 8-0 scoring run to begin the period, leading to a timeout by the Cardinals. Otterbein fought back nicely from that point forward by putting together a 10-2 run to narrow its deficit to six points.

The Cards scored two field goals to end the half, while the Jackets connected on a pair of three-pointers and take a 10-point advantage into halftime. BW profited in the first half off a 6-of-13 mark from beyond the arc.

BW increased its lead to as many as 17 points in the third quarter before forward Abbie Scholz dropped in a buzzer-beating layup to trim the Cards' deficit to 50-35 heading into the final frame.

The Yellow Jackets did not take their foot off the pedal over the final 10 minutes outscoring the Cardinals for the fourth-straight quarter, 16-10, with a lead as many as 22 points.

Guard Dani Kissel and forward Kiersten Taylor led the Cards with 10 points apiece, while forward Taylor Pifher check in as the next-highest scorer on the team with six points.
