TIFFIN, Ohio – The Cardinal women's lacrosse team opened Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a nice road victory Saturday evening, winning under the lights by a score of 17-2 over host Heidelberg University.
Otterbein, improving to 4-4 on the season after its third-straight win, grabbed an 8-2 lead by halftime and never looked back to claim its conference opener for a second-straight season.

Senior
Katy Williams surpassed 100-career points in the contest, tying the Otterbein single-game record with eight goals on just 12 shots to lead the squad from start to finish. The Cards slowly but surely built on the lead throughout the second half, hitting the 10-goal cushion with 20:15 remaining and easing to victory.
Junior
Veronica Wagner roped in four goals to accompany Williams' effort on the attack, which generated a 40-8 shot advantage and won 17 of 21 draw controls. Wagner won 10 draws individually, her fourth outing this season with seven or more.
Ema Pusecker and
Abby Smoot both tallied five-point games (2G, 3A)Â while Izzy Naumosvki added a goal of her own. Freshman
Jamie Kuder snagged a game-high five ground balls.
Janessa Scott made 15 saves in goal for Heidelberg, a first-year program that now stands 0-4 on the young season. The game saw a combined 55 turnovers from both sides.
Otterbein will have a full seven days off before returning to the field next Sunday, hosting cross-town rival Capital University at 1 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium.Â
