WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's lacrosse team fell victim to a red-hot Baldwin Wallace University squad Saturday afternoon, dropping a 17-6  contest inside Memorial Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets, improving to 12-2 and a perfect 7-0 against the league, will square off against Mount Union next week in what should most likely decide the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular-season title.
Otterbein, falling to 6-7 this spring and an even 3-3 within OAC play, will have road games at Ohio Northern and John Carroll to finish out the regular-season. Only the top-four teams will qualify for the upcoming league tournament.
The Cards trailed just 2-1 after a goal from upstart freshman
Ema Pusecker at the 19:09 mark, and BW only led 3-1 with 12 minutes remaining in the opening period before a flurry of goals from led to an 11-1 gap by intermission.
Both sides played even in the second half, scoring five times apiece as Otterbein ultimately received three-point days from Pusecker (2G, 1A) and junior
Veronica Wagner (1G, 2A).
Sophomore
Abby Smoot found the back of the net twice for the Cards while senior
Katy Williams, the OAC's leading goal-scorer coming in, scored once while fighting through endless pressure from start to finish. She and classmate
Jennie Bremer were recognized during pregame for their efforts to the program.
BW enjoyed four-goal days from Hannah Albrechta and Bri Martineau, a six-point afternoon from Kayla Miller, and ultimately finished with a 31-17 shot advantage as a team. Goalie Amanda Getto made six saves.
Otterbein won 15 of 24 draw controls, including a game-high eight from specialist
Veronica Wagner, and got eight saves in the cage from freshman
Tasha Williams.
