Cards Fall at Three-Time Defending OAC Champion Mount Union

Box Score

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's lacrosse team was dealt a road loss within Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play Saturday night, falling by a score of 19-2 at three-time defending champion University of Mount Union.

The Cardinals, now standing 5-6 on the year and 2-2 against the league, will be back in action this coming Wednesday with a home matchup against Wilmington College.

Mount Union (7-3, 3-1 OAC) scored early and often to pull away, building a 14-0 lead by halftime and never looking back. Ashley Bernardi scored five times to lead the Purple Raiders while Katie Elder roped in four.

Otterbein scored twice in the second half off the stick of senior Katy Williams, who recently surpassed 100-career goals and currently leads the OAC with 40 so far this spring.

Veronica Wagner and Jame Kuder combined to win seven draw controls while freshman Cristiana Nicholas had a pair of caused turnovers. Goalie Tasha Williams made eight saves between the posts.

Mount Union finished holding a 28-13 shot advantage while both sides traded draw controls, with the Raiders snagging 12 and Otterbein corralling nine of them. Both teams picked up 12 ground balls.
