WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University cross country teams posted a strong finish hosting the Otterbein Invitational Saturday morning at the Lehman Cross Country Course.

The Cardinal men's squad, fresh off a pair of first-place outings and a jump to No. 4 in the latest regional poll, posted yet another victory after scoring 33 points to outpace the Ohio State Running Club by 10 points in second-place.

Otterbein's women's team, which recently moved up to No. 24 in the latest national poll, claimed third-place with 57 points by a wide margin over fourth-place Mt. Vernon Nazarene. Oberlin (38pts) and Kenyon (49pts) placed 1-2, respectively.

Junior Ian Kellogg, the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Runner of the Week, and sophomores Jacob Thompson and Wyatt Gardner led the way for the Cardinals on the men's side as the unit accounted for four of the top-six spots across the finish line, with the pack nearly ending in tandem with one another.

Kellogg, Thompson and Gardner each covered the 8K distance in 27:24.7 to grab a share of third-place overall out of 123 total runners, with the final results placing them in the three through five spots. Sophomore Jamey Ehret was right on their heels the entire race, placing sixth with a mark of 27:24.8.

Junior Trevor Dilley rounded out the team score for Otterbein with a time of 28:14.7, making it five Cardinals inside the top-15 competitors. Freshmen Ellis Farson (28:22.3) and Alex Lewis (28:36.6) also posted strong outings to earn a spot inside the top-25.

On the women's side it was junior Claire Lamb, who made it a sweep for the Cards last week for the weekly conference runner of the week award, leading the way for the third time in as many races for the team. Lamb placed third overall out of 139 runners, speeding through the 6K course in 23:35.9.

Freshman Lorenza Savini followed right behind with a fourth-place finish in 23:37.4 to make it two Cards inside the top-four, while sophomore Allison Currey crossed the line in 15th-place at 24:37.7.

Sophomore Allison Rogiers (24:39.0) and freshman Mary Watts (24:45.3) placed 17th and 18th, respectively, while freshman Sydney Smith (24:59.1) and junior Kira Judd (25:06.1) also finished inside the top-30 competitors.

Both teams will welcome a week off from competition next week before traveling to Cedarville University Sept. 29 for the All-Ohio Championships. The men's race is set for 2 p.m. with the women's event beginning 2:45 p.m.
