WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against Denison in its home opener on Wednesday night inside Memorial Stadium.
It was scoreless affair through 90 minutes, as the two teams combined for 11 shots in a tightly-played contest. The Cardinals held the shot advantage heading into overtime, 6-5, notching five on goal.
Both defenses and goalkeepers were credited with keeping the game scoreless in regulation, as Denison's Jenny Herold stopped seven Otterbein shots while freshman
Katie Both helped lock down the Cardinal posts with one save.

Bella Shivley put the most pressure on the Big Red defense in the in the first two periods, each posting a pair of shots to lead the team. No Denison player recorded more than one shot over that same span.
Neither team managed to pick up a shot in the initial extra frame as the two squads headed to double overtime, the second time in the first three games of the year for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals were able to unload a trio of shots in the final 10 minutes of play, all of which were good opportunities near the Big Red box. The first came off a spirited shot off the foot of sophomore
Haley Hott that was blocked by a Denison defender, while the second sailed just wide from Shivley.
Spencer tacked on a late attempt with less than a minute left, but to no avail as the two teams settled for their first draw of the season. Neither squad reached double digits in the shot category, with Otterbein finishing with a 9-6 edge and a commanding 6-1 margin in shots on goal.
Both concluded the game for the Cards in goal with just the one save in a tightly-contested 110 minutes, while Herold stopped six shots.
Otterbein looks to boost its 2-0-1 record when it returns to action Sunday hosting Centre at 2 p.m.
