Cardinals Drops Regular-Season Finale at Capital

BEXLEY, Ohio – The Otterbein men's soccer team falls in its regular season finale against Capital, 5-0, Saturday night.

The Cardinals end the regular season 8-7 overall and 5-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), while Capital earns the OAC Regular Season crown with the victory. Capital (13-3 overall, 8-1 in the OAC) secures the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and will earn a first-round bye.

The Crusaders recorded three goals in the first half and never looked back. The first goal came in the 14th minute, followed by a goal in 22nd minute and finally a goal eight minutes before the break.

The second half would follow a similar script, as Capital added two goals for insurance. The Crusaders Jamie Robinson tacked on his second goal of the season in the 51st minute. Three minutes later, Capital scored on a set piece this time by Daniel Bundschuh

Goalkeeper Collin Hoffmann made seven saves against the strong Crusaders attack. Otterbein was able to attempt nine shots, but only two were on frame.

Otterbein will turn its attention to the OAC Tournament next week, as they earned the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 seed Ohio Northern Tuesday night. The Cardinals defeated the Polar Bears earlier this week 1-0 off a Pau Piang goal in the 80th minute.
