Box Score

BEXLEY, Ohio – The Otterbein women's lacrosse team saw its three-game winning streak snapped Friday afternoon across town, dropping a 17-5 contest to host Capital University inside Bernlohr Stadium.

The defeats drops Otterbein to 5-6 overall this season, 1-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the win keeps Capital moving along nicely at 8-1 on the spring. The Crusaders bounced back from their only loss so far this year, recently falling 12-11 in overtime against John Carroll.

Capital took control from the get-go, opening an 8-0 lead midway through the first and ultimately taking a 10-1 advantage into halftime after Otterbein freshman Cameron Finnegan got her team on the scoreboard.

The Purple and White ran the gap to 14-1 early in the second period before Finnegan struck twice more to secure a hat trick and make the deficit 14-3. Capital would maintain the comfortable lead down the stretch, with the Cards adding goals from Julia Karas and Kiera Mulcahy to complete their scoring.

Capital finished with a 38-15 edge in shots and won 20 of the 24 draw controls. Goalie Allison Rhoads made a new season-high 12 saves while Finnegan was 2 for 2 on free-position attempts.
