WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinal volleyball team ran its winning streak to seven matches with a quick 3-0 victory over Wilmington Tuesday night in the Rike Center, prevailing by scores of 25-8, 25-12, 25-14.
Otterbein improves to 21-4 on the season, including a 5-1 mark in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), while Wilmington drops to 3-21 overall and 0-6 against the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Otterbein took control with a dominating first set, opening a 17-4 lead and coasting to an early lead.
- The second set was only 9-7 before the Cards flew away once again, using a 10-2 run midway through and never looking back.
- Otterbein wasted no time closing the door by taking a 12-2 lead to begin the third frame, coasting behind the hot arm of freshman middle Amber Greeley.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Otterbein hit .307 as a team compared to a -.015 for the Fightin' Quakers. The Cards had nine service aces on the night.
- Greeley and Dasha Bruyako tied for a match-high nine kills while reigning OAC Offensive Player of the Week Tate Eppard posted eight. Freshman Anna Donner added seven herself.
- Senior libero Ashlyn Leon, the newest OAC Defensive Player of the Week, eased her way to 13 digs and now has 1,977 for her career. She looks to hit the 2K mark soon enough.
- Otterbein played the match without a pair of starters in Emily Shuk (death in the family) and Julia Vermilion (rest). The Cards worked in a handful of rotations and lineups.

- Otterbein will have a pair of massive OAC showdowns coming up on the road, beginning with a Saturday afternoon contest at No. 15-ranked Muskingum before a matchup with No. 11 Ohio Northern next Tuesday in Ada.
