Shake and Bake: Cards Skate Past Quakers 4-1

Box Score WILMINGTON, Ohio – The wins continued racking up Wednesday night for a No. 17-ranked Otterbein women's soccer team, which remained unbeaten in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a convincing 4-1  victory over host Wilmington College.

The Cardinals, scoring twice in the first three minutes of the match, improve to 13-1-1 on the year and an unblemished 6-0 against the OAC. Otterbein's winning streak is now at nine.
Wilmington, currently in the middle of the league standings, falls to an even 3-3 within the pack and 8-5-1 so far this fall.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior Bella Shivley, ranked fourth nationally in scoring, opened with a goal just 94 seconds after the opening whistle off an assist from sophomore Delaney Earl.

  • Junior Myiah Kelley then found Earl inside the box less than a minute later to double up the lead.

  • Senior Katie Exline widened Otterbein's lead to 3-0 shortly before halftime, scoring another from inside the box with the assist credited to Emily Ganz.

  • Wilmington got on the board in the 68th minute, and Exline connected with Kelley for another Otterbein score later at the 86:42 mark.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Shivley's goal was her 19th of the season and marks No. 42 for her career, tying Karen Beers atop the program's record list. The next tally will make her Otterbein's standalone all-time goal scorer.

  • The Cards finished with a lopsided 23-3 edge in shots, including a 12-3 mark on frame.

  • This marks the seventh-straight win in the series for Otterbein, with an aggregate score of 18-3 during the stretch.

UP NEXT:
  • The Cardinals will finish out the week hosting Muskingum, come Saturday under the lights at Memorial Stadium, as part of Senior Night. A total of seven players will be recognized pregame for their contributions to the program.

  • Otterbein and No. 21-ranked Ohio Northern (12-2-2, 6-0 OAC) have kept pace with one another atop the league standings, with a showdown between the clubs scheduled for this time next week.
