Men's Soccer Blasts Muskingum, 8-1

uaNEW CONCORD, Ohio- Otterbein left no doubt on Saturday afternoon who would walk away with victory, blasting past Muskingum 8-1. The win keeps Otterbein in pace with the leaders of the Ohio Athletic Conference, improving to 11-5 on the season and 5-2 within the OAC. The loss drops Muskingum to 7-9-1 and 0-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Otterbein opened up the scoring frenzy just 13 minutes into the game when Pau Piang found Liam Heard to give the Cards the 1-0 advantage.
     
  • Freshman standout Gabe Sharrock got in on the scoring action at 29:08, scoring an unassisted goal.
     
  • Piang earned his second assist of the day at 36:09, this time with Senior Eric Stucky on the receiving end to put the Cards ahead 3-0.
     
  • Otterbein wrapped up the first half scoring outburst with Tiger Pham assisting Joshua Conroy at 38:34 to go up 4-0 at the half.
     
  • Muskingum was outshot by the Cards 14-2 in the first half.
     
  • On their way to scoring another four goals, the second half started quickly as well with Nicholas Flury putting Otterbein up 5-0 at 51:16.
     
  • At 62:53 Kyle Haberkorn earned an assist finding Will Isaac open for a goal, 6-0 Cardinals.
     
  • Otterbein scored twice more on two unassisted goals by Liam Heard, his second of the day at 64:09, and Jacob Pribe at 70:55.
     
  • Muskingum avoided the shutout in the final minute of play with Thomas Rooney scoring for the Muskies at 89:59.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Otterbein posted its largest shot difference of the season today, outshooting the Muskies 26-5.
     
  • Collin Hoffmann played the first half in net for Otterbein, making one save.
     
  • Andrew McIlvoy made his return to action today in the second half, making two saves and allowing one goal.
     
  • Otterbein had three goals come from substitutes.

UP NEXT:
  • Otterbein will play its final road game of the season on Wednesday, traveling to Ada for 7 p.m. match with Ohio Northern.
