WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania- Under the guidance of first year head coach
Diana Noles, the Otterbein women's basketball team starts its season 2-0 after a successful weekend at the Spring Hill Suites tip-off Tournament hosted by Washington & Jefferson College Friday and Saturday.
FRIDAY:
Otterbein opened the season up Friday night against Carnegie Mellon, emerging victorious 70-41.
Abbie Scholz paced the Cardinal offense, leading all scorers with 15 points on 5-7 shooting, and 5-9 from the free-throw stripe. Scholz also recorded six rebounds and four steals on the night.
Delaney Cutteridge chipped in 10 points of her own, while also dishing out five assists.
Diana Noles earned her first head coaching victory with the win.
SATURDAY:
In a quick turnaround, the Cards stayed hot and knocked off Case Western Reserve University, 65-56. Scholz continued her impressive weekend, this time scoring a game-high 23 points, adding eight rebounds and two steals along the way.
Cutteridge kept pace with Scholz again as well, with 15 points of her own, and six assists in the win. Otterbein used a fourth quarter scoring outburst to pull away from CWRU, outscoring the Spartans 22-13 down the stretch.
The Cardinals will return to action on Nov. 22nd when they travel to Danville, Kentucky for the Centre Tournament. Otterbein will play the host Centre Friday night at 7 p.m., then will play Oglethorpe at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
