Box Score GAMBIER, Ohio – Kenyon worked past Otterbein in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup Saturday afternoon, with the host Ladies emerging by a final score of 17-4 at McBride Field.
Otterbein (1-6) took an early lead at the 27:25 mark when senior
Abby Smoot found the back of the net, but it would be all Kenyon from that point moving forward.
The Ladies, improving to 6-2 on the season with their fifth-straight win, settled in to close the half on a 10-1 run entering the break.
Kenyon scored four-straight times after intermission before Otterbein got in on the action, finding goals from Cameron Finnegn, Smoot and
Julia Karas down the stretch. The hosts finished with a 37-13 shot margin.
Karas led the team with five draw controls while defender
Kenna Walquist and goalie
Allison Rhoads each scooped up four ground balls. The Cards were 8 of 21 on clear attempts compared to a 14 of 18 rate for the home side.
Maya Fair scored a game-high five times for Kenyon and Lucy Somers added a hat trick. Kenyon's only two losses this year are one-goal decisions to John Carroll and Mount Union.
Otterbein will get back on its home field for a pair of games next week, hosting Thomas More (7 p.m.) on Tuesday before the conference opener against Mount Union (1 p.m.) on Saturday.
