NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Otterbein softball team upset No. 1 seed Muskingum 5-4 in game one of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament and are currently up 1-0 in the second game of the against Baldwin Wallace, which is currently in a rain delay.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME ONE: OTTERBEIN – 5, MUSKINGUM – 4
- Kayla Queer started the scoring in the fourth inning, as Queer hit a three run home run in the top of the fourth inning.
- Rachel Eberling of Muskingum responded in the bottom half of the inning with a three-run homer of her own to tie the game.
- The home run party continued, as Hannah Dobrinick hit a two-run blast in the fifth inning.
- Krissy Hughes singled with two outs and stole her 34th base of the year. Riley Powers singled on the next at bat to score Hughes and make the score 5-4, still in favor of the Cardinals.
- Muskingum had the leadoff hitter reach base on a single in the sixth inning and substituted a pinch runner. On the next pitch, Alyson McAdams initially dropped the ball but recovered and threw the runner out at second base.
GAME TWO: OTTERBEIN – 1, BALDWIN WALLACE – 0 (FOURTH INNING / RAIN DELAY)
- Anna Edwards took the mound in game two and so far has thrown three shutout innings, as the senior has allowed two hits and has two strikeouts.
- Alyson Shaw made a stellar play at shortstop in the first inning to get an out at home plate to keep Muskingum off the scoreboard.
- Shaw in the top of the third inning ripped a triple to right field to score pinch runner Sami Ange.
- As the rain started to come down, the two teams headed for their dugouts and waited about an hour before the game was officially called.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- With her second hit in game two against Baldwin Wallace, Shaw become the all-time hit leader with 216 career hits. The senior passed her former teammate Bailey McElwain who held the record for one year.
- The two home runs in game one marks the fifth time this season that the Cardinals have had multi-home runs in one game.
- Johnson earned her 14th win of the year and 54th career victory.
- Queer hit her fourth home run of the season, as it was her fourth against an OAC opponents.

The Cardinals will be back in action tomorrow morning to finish game two against Baldwin Wallace, as the winner of this game will play the winner of game #5 on the tournament page.
