Box Score WESTERVILLE, Ohio- Men's Basketball improves to 2-0 on the young season after a dominant performance against Denison. The Cardinals jumped out to an early advantage and led the game wire-to-wire, eventually winning by a final margin of 81-58.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Before some of the crowd had a chance to find a seat, the Cardinals jumped out to an early 13-6 lead behind an energized defense. Seemingly not tired or sick from being shirtless at the men's soccer match, the Otterbein baseball team provided some juice as the Cardinals ballooned their lead to 12 at the half way mark.
On the Cardinal's final offensive possession of the half,
Reid Black found himself wide open at the top of the key; the senior just beat the shot clock with a deep three to give the Cardinals a 42-29 halftime advantage.
After the first seven minutes of second-half action, Otterbein found themselves with a massive lead of 22. The wheels fell off for Denison at that point, as visibly frustrated players couldn't seem to buy a bucket.
The Cardinals closed things out, leading by as many as 29, with stifling defense and some fresh legs seeing action.
THE NUMBERS:
Reid Black poured in a game-high 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting while also grabbing nine rebounds.
Cam Evans added 15 of his own in 15-minutes of play while
Dallas Patrick and
Alex Hannah joined the pair in double-figures with 11 and 10.
As a team, the Cardinals shot nearly 50 percent from the field while hitting on 11-of-26 threes for a 42 percent rate.
UP NEXT:
Otterbein will enjoy some time off before they hit the road for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Case Western Reserve next Thursday, Nov. 18.
