Women's Basketball Collects Two Wins at Nan Nichols Classic

WOOSTER, Ohio- Otterbein Women's Basketball collected two non-conference wins at the Nan Nichols Classic over the weekend, first defeating Hanover, 84-61, before a Sunday afternoon win over host school Wooster, 89-38.

GAME ONE:

Angelia Jackson led four Cardinals in double-digit scoring with a game-high 14 points. Katie McCrary (12), Claire Radabaugh (11) and Natalie Galaida (10) joined in double figures, while Bryn Mangold added nine points on a 4-of-4 effort from the field.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and then kept the gas pedal down to outscore Hanover 30-14 in the second. Otterbein's defense held the Panthers to just a 31 percent shooting performance while also forcing 13 turnovers.

GAME TWO:

McCrary and Jenna Hoschouer ran the show Sunday afternoon, as the duo combined for 30 points. Hoschouer, 16 points, was nearly perfect from the field in hitting on 8-of-9 attempts. McCrary, meanwhile, added 14 of her own and was named the Nan Nichols Classic MVP after a combined 26 points in the two outings. 

Kyna Waderker just missed out on a double-double with eight points and ten rebounds. The defense was stout again, this time holding Wooster to just 14 of 53 from the field. The offense scored a season-high 89 points after shooting 51 percent throughout. The Cardinals kept the Scots to under 10 points in three different quarters.

UP NEXT:

On Tuesday, the Cardinals will return to action when they welcome Waynesburg in their home opener. Tip off at the Rike Center is scheduled for 5 p.m.
